ECR Received Funding from Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation to Enhance Event Recycling Services
Emmet County, MI – Emmet County Recycling (ECR) is excited to announce receipt of funding from the Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation to expand event recycling services. This grant has helped improve recycling infrastructure, allowing ECR to better support local events and reduce landfill waste.
In 2023, ECR serviced 25 events, including Blissfest and other community gatherings. However, the growing demand for recycling services requires additional resources. With the new funding, ECR purchased five zero waste stations, 15 blue Clearstreams for bottle and can collection, and five Give All Food A Future carts for food scraps. These enhancements will improve recycling rates, reduce waste, and increase educational outreach to local event organizers and attendees.
“The generous support from the Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation will help to provide better recycling services at more events,” said Ashley McMurry, Grants & Resources Coordinator of Emmet County Recycling. “This will allow us to expand our efforts, reduce landfill waste, and promote sustainability in the community.”
ECR’s goal is to continue fostering a culture of environmental stewardship and sustainability in Emmet County by making recycling services more accessible and efficient for local events.
